The Petersen is one of the world's largest automotive museums, located in Los Angeles' iconic Miracle Mile. To commemorate the Petersen's 20th Anniversary and reopening after a one-year $125 million renovation, we developed the official Petersen App powered by Gretel. 

The objective was to create a mobile product that could coincide with the immersive multi–media gallery experience that spans the museum's three floors in a cohesive visual narrative—while also rewarding visitors for repeat visits and explorations of the institution's rotating exhibits.

The Petersen app provides visitors an enriched, amplified, and interactive museum experience that comes alive with the delivery of contextual content and streaming media to mobile devices. Fully localized, visitors can enjoy the self–guided tour in their native language.

Users can favorite exhibit items to their personal profile collection, and browse conveniently the museum’s entire current collection. The ability to unlock content by visiting specific installations allows visitors to share their favorites with friends and family, while incentivizing future visits to unlock even more. Other features include a treasure hunt, an events and exhibit calendar, and access to more detailed information about the exhibit items and the museum.
